And a heartfelt thanks to all the good folks that shared their kind words with us over the years! - RJV
Thank God for R.J. Vandygriff! I have seen this show twice and would do it again every day if I didn’t have a life of my own to live. R.J’s pure-bred Texas vocals give authenticity to the show that anyone outside of the state most likely could not deliver. This show is about the crackling of campfires, the smell of horses and cattle, and warm summer nights on a trail drive listening to old cowboys tell tales - some tall and some not so tall. Take some time to step back in time with R.J. Vandygriff and "The Cowboy Ain’t Dead Yet" stage show. There’s a good chance you’ll ride an exciting trail in cowboy dreamland after retiring for the night.

This Texas cowboy takes you from Lipscomb to Dalhart in this tribute to the American Cowboy. The powerful songs come from a one man, one act musical that Vandygriff performs and they are very much a story of ranching, rodeoing, and cowboying. A collection that is an absolute keeper. I can recommend this one without reservation.

Our audience at Theatre Victoria absolutely loved ’The Cowboy Ain’t Dead Yet’." Response was literally 100% positive after the show with the singular question being, "When is the Cowboy coming back?". We’ll make sure
that happens next year!

Everyone here loved the show! I don’t even know if there are enough positive adjectives available to say how much WE LOVED THE SHOW. The entire city of Victoria , TX is still talking about the show – hope to see R.J. riding this way again next year!

Much like the lyrics of his award winning song (Keep the Campfire Burning) RJ kept the fire burning with his performance.......

Our theatre locals, many of whom can relate to the whole cowboy persona, were totally impressed with RJ’s wonderfully entertaining delivery of history, folklore and experience, presented in such a unique & intimate setting. An excellent musical & comedy show, worthy of a repeat performance!

It seems as though R.J. had an immediate connection to the High Plains Western Heritage Center and its mission. His songs blended with the exhibits of the story of settlement in our 5-state High Plains area. R.J.’s one-act comedy and his music were a perfect fit for the setting. An extra touch was the time R.J. took to visit with folks before and after the show. The audience truly enjoyed his performance.

The San Antonio Symphony was very fortunate to engage R.J. Vandygriff as a guest artist in the role of his persona Joe Texas on our "Billy the Kid" Young People’s Concerts presented in May 2015 for nearly 10,000 area students. Mr. Vandygriff was flexible and easy to work with and went above and beyond in assisting us to create a concert script that was both convincing and humorous. As Joe Texas, Mr. Vandygriff was delightfully engaging with our young audience, getting them to participate and sing along while relaying important educational information about the life of the southwestern cowboy in a way the complemented our concert program perfectly. We will definitely be looking for opportunities to include Mr. Vandygriff in our future programs.

RJ Vandygriff had the audience in the palm of his hand or should I say crook of his stirrup at our Symphony fundraiser. He is a great singer and story-teller who touches the heart and the "funny bone."
